Happy New Years,

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and enjoyed some time with family and friends. The local union annual food drive was able to contribute $3500 to the Larimer County Food Bank, which was greatly appreciated especially this time of year.

We continue to have a good number of our members either out with Covid or in quarantine. The challenge continues to be walking that fine line, between keeping all breweries running to provide a source of income to our members and keeping everyone safe at work. It’s important that if you’re not feeling well that you call the company before you report to work and let the employee relations guide you on the steps you must take before reporting to work. We are asking everyone that has been vaccinated to update their vaccine information on the company portal, and to continue to wear your mask and practice social distancing. We are waiting to hear the outcome of the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) that requires companies with 100 or more employees to either prove vaccination status or mandatory testing every 7 days.  It will be heard by the Supreme Court on January 10, 2022.

Members & retirees with high school seniors, there is multiple opportunities for your seniors to apply for scholarships:

Union President, Earth Lindsay, and I took a quick visit to see our friends and members on the West Coast Clydesdale Show Horse Hitch in Las Vegas this past December. We have some new members on the Hitch and the company has indicated to the Union that the Hitch will not be returning to Fort Collins until later this summer

Rocky Mountain Teamster Article October 2022

In the last article I had mentioned the new phone policy that the company was implementing. I am pleased to announce that we have successfully persuaded them to change course on this. That said the current electronic device policy is still in place and we strongly encourage all our members to abstain from using their phones, earbuds, tablets, etc. when they are in any production area.  Recently the company was shipping 6th barrels out for repair which we grieved as our work. We prevailed and won a settlement for our maintenance folks.

We will be running another gift card raffle starting on October 12th for everyone that is signed up for the Local 267 App. We will be randomly drawing 2 winners every Wednesday for 10 weeks. Winners will receive a $50 gift card. If you or someone you know has not signed up for the Local 267 App., please contact the hall or a shop steward so they can help you download the App. and get signed up. We are now at over 70% of people that have downloaded and signed up for the app, which provides our members with a one stop shop for schedules, benefits, contacts, and push notifications about current brewery information. Thus far it has been a huge success!

In July, four of our Brewery employee’s college bound children were award the Ab-InBev/Teamsters scholarship. Four of our Brewery employee’s college bound children also were awarded our Local 267 scholarship.

Congratulations on the Ab-InBev / Teamsters scholarship.

“Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Local 267”

From the E’board to all committee members, shop stewards, active members, and retirees of Local 267 and all members of JC3 – we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and hope you have a chance to celebrate this holiday season with family and friends.

In September Local 267 teamed with Anheuser-Busch to host an employee celebration at the Anheuser Busch tour Center. Retirees from the last couple years who had missed a formal celebration were welcomed back along with current employees and local management to celebrate their retirement. The weather was beautiful, and everyone had a great time mingling with current and past co-workers and enjoying Anheuser Busch beverages and great food.

In November long time Secretary Treasurer Howie Dorsher retired from the Local and we wish him a great retirement and thank him for all his years of service. Former President Mike Cova took over as Secretary Treasurer of  Local 267, Earth Lindsay will move from Trustee to President, and Josh Lara was appointed Trustee, Josh works in the packaging department in the Fort Collins Brewery and has been a member of the local since 2012. Josh is also a shop steward in the BP&S department.

In November Local 267 rolled out its new App and Website hosted by LinkedUnion. The App is a one stop shop for the members of the Local to find schedules, benefits information, and Local contracts. Members can sign up for push notifications that inform them of breaking news and events happening at the Local or in the Brewery. Local 267 Office Manager Lori Schleber played a key roll in successfully working with LinkedUnion to develop and launch the App and the new Local 267 website. Thank you, Lori. Members are encouraged to download the app. Contact the Union office at 970-482-2749 or through the website, www.lu267.org home page, and well get you set up with a log-in and password.

It’s been a busy year regarding retirements and new hires to the bargaining unit. Congrats to all the recent retirees we wish you well in your new ventures. And a big welcome to our new Teamster brothers and sisters and hope to see you at our monthly Union meetings and events. If any of you are interested in becoming a shop steward, there are openings in the roster, especially in the Maintenance department.  This is your chance to get more involved in your Union.

A reminder, the hall will be closed the last two weeks of the year.  Continue to watch the bulletin boards or APP and website for official announcements.

Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

In solidarity,

Michael Cova
